The skeleton on the can is riding a boneshaker bicycle.* That segues well into a skeleton joke I have paraphrased from the grandkids.
Q: Why is the skeleton riding the bike on his own?
A: Because he has no body to ride with. **
Of course the term boneshaker in this case has nothing to do with a bicycle but refers to the taste and effect of this strong IPA. Yes, my bones were shaken but not stirred, this beer gave me a license to chill.
Although this is an unfiltered IPA it is not a hazy one, the pour was clear and darker than most IPAs. A strong spicy aroma, grapefruit and pine in abundance. You can tell that no hops were spared in the brewing of this beer. A strong hoppy first swig with a hoppy bitter aftertaste. Although I usually don’t enjoy a strong bitter, the bitter only came after each enjoyable full flavoured traditional strong IPA swig. The bitter was not a problem, it made life interesting. Well balanced. I usually don’t recommend pairings as I am most often having chips and dip with my brewskis but I did have some salt and pepper pistachios with this one. It is just a theory but I think some chips and dip would complement the bitter a bit better.
This beer will be enjoyed by IPA lovers but may be a bit of a struggle for those who gravitate towards lighter fare. I enjoyed this strong IPA, it was good to the bitter end.
