Foxy, shifty, wily, crafty and now 30% sneakier! Sneaky weasel sounds a bit redundant doesn’t it? I mean weasels in general are known for being sneaky. Maybe this should be called Sneakier Weasel which would align well the claim of an additional 30% of sneakiness in every can. Balderdash’s other offerings are Honey Badger, Wily Wolverine and Sly Fox. There appears to be a theme developing here.
When I saw this beer I couldn’t resist sampling it, I was curious as to what the adjective sneaky had to do with beer. Does it sneak up on you and inebriate you? Or does it surprise you with some zing not typically found in lagers?
Nice golden pour, a snow white head with no dwarves present. The taste is smooth and plain but wait, there seems to be a touch of rye with the barley or something in it that seems to announce it is a bit stronger than your average run of the mill lager. I couldn’t quite place the additional taste which faded at first but like most offenders returned to the scene of the crime. Offender may be the wrong word, after all the police return to the scene of the crime too. It wasn’t a bad flavour, it just seemed a bit out of place. It was certainly a smooth beer and at the same time felt like a stronger than normal brew although it only comes in at 5.6%. Sneaky yes.
