I thought my picture background was a nice touch.*
This beer was recommended by my old buddy Rick. If anyone knows his craft beers it is tricky Ricky, so when he mentioned this red ale I put it on my list. Although I am not a red ale fan, a poor man’s amber I always say, I had to give this one a try. On the can it says “No lumberjack ever talked a tree into falling down.” I don’t think a fact check is required for that statement.
Steaks and taters on the BBQ, hot and muggy on the back deck so I was in desperate need of a thirst quenching. Luckily I had a Tree Topper handy, because on the can it says it can quench “even a lumber jack size thirst. “ Down a tree, down a beer, I always say. Well I have actually never said that but if I was a lumber jack I definitely would have said that at some point.
Looks great in the glass, nice and dark red. A bit heady on first pour but once we got settled down all good. Tastes great, full bodied flavour and refreshing as well. Not as thin and watery as some reds tend to be. A bit of a hoppy finish which goes well with the full bodied flavour, but at the same time refreshing on a hot day. Great red, thanks Rick, good call.
