I couldn’t resist the hockey themed beer and saved it for a Leafs game, and they won again! How about those Leafs!
The beer can has a hockey player with a cyclists helmet (a hockey helmet is too tough to draw I guess) handing out food baskets with his hockey stick from over the boards to the homeless, who are taking the food basket to their house (seems to be a bit of a contradiction here)? The lane way to their house has a snowman in the front yard and someone waving from the doorway. The hockey player’s teammates are on the bench at an outdoor rink with an ice bucket full of brewskies (no food in that bucket). I am no art critic but this one won’t replace dogs playing poker, even if you did it in velvet.
Brew Aid gives $0.25 from every can to Hockey Helps the Homeless. Being homeless in Canada is no picnic, that’s for sure. Sounds like a great charity, good for you Old Tomorrow. I wonder if there is a charity called Hockey Helps the Toothless for all these Bobby Clarke wanna bes who have lost their bucky bucks to the game. But I digress. There is beer in the can.
In addition to all the artwork, the can says Crisp, Clean, Crushable. If nothing else this beer is definitely crisp and clean. I prefer clean beers to dirty ones, don’t you? And I assume the can is crushable, even my grandkids can crush a beer can these days. For me it came across as a light beer, very easy drinking, not as flavourful as I had hoped for but definitely easy drinking. Despite the hockey theme it is probably a great hot summer day refresher as opposed to a drink in the stands at an outdoor rink in minus 200 C weather. Kudos to Old Tomorrow for supporting a great charity.
