I haven’t quite figured out what a gas mask has to do with a shakedown or an awakening, or what a West Coast IPA has to do with a shakedown either. But with a name like “Awakening” I expected a full blown hop fest.
This brew poured golden and hazy but no bubbles in the brew, they all immediately congregated on top for a substantial bubbly fluffy white head. I let it settle a bit so as not to get a nose full. It has a hoppy aroma but not over the top. A bit of citrus in the background. A medium hoppy citrus flavour but not too much. The brisk hoppy finish is much appreciated. My first thought was this is a nice balanced West Coast IPA, not too aggressive, good flavour with enough hoppiness to generate happiness. It is certainly an easy drinking high ABV brew. Big Rig describes this as “old-school balance”.
