A starter beer? To introduce new beer drinkers to the joys of drinking beer? No.
Well, is it an introduction to IPAs? That makes sense, since it is a session IPA. No, that’s not it either.
I had to refer to the verbiage on the can to find out that it’s a sports reference. According to FF “this IPA screams high draft beer pick stud.” No bench sitter this one!
So I recruited the starter to provide moral support and hydration during an intense BBQ session and it didn’t disappoint.
It poured middling golden and hazy, some head but no bubbles. Very hazy. It has a fruit forward aroma, almost sweet. But the first swig didn’t match the aroma, there was as much hops and bitter as fruit, but it was all well balanced and quite nice. The fruit evolved to almost a sour bitter as it warmed, which may not sound appealing but actually worked quite well.
This is a great BBQ warm weather brew.
