On the can it says “hazy, juicy, tropical”. Looks like they took care of my review for me. Yep, that’s what it is alright. It says “this Tasty IPA is on the up and up”*. But is it good?
And what’s with the Welly blimp (zeppelin, airship) on the can, flying through a lightning storm no less. Back in the day those things used to blow up more often than balloons at a birthday party, so I can’t help but think that it’s days (minutes, seconds) are numbered in dealing with thunder on high. The Goodyear Blimp (it is actually a semi-rigid airship) is still in business with aerial shots of golf tourneys and other high profile sporting events, but why does it sail over NBA games? To get an aerial view of the parking lot around the stadium? Wait a minute, is it advertising something?
Back to this New England style IPA. A golden orange very hazy pour with my glass doing its best citrus lava lamp impersonation. Bright white head at elevation. Lots of bits and bites in this hazy pour. Fruit aroma, I think there is peach in there somewhere among the citrus. Definitely a hazy juicy tropical first swig with mild hops, a bit of peach fuzz on the finish with a slight bitter aftertaste. The peach fuzz got shaved smooth by the second swig, fruit forward with a touch of hops. Very nice. The high ABV was not evident in this one, which is just the way I like it. Tropical fruit with mild hoppiness made for a great NEIPA. Delicious. Another well done Welly.
