Stand Down

Lake of Bays Brewing Co.

6.9% Alcohol

At the cottage with no adult supervision.  Burning burgers, boiling corn and pouring a pint. Note to self, don’t try to gauge BBQ cooking time for a burger based on finishing a 6.9% IPA.

Thirsty after being out on the lake so this brew was going down at a rapid rate. Of course once again I failed to read the fine print. On the can it notes that this bear (beer) is dangerous and to approach slowly.  I guess I figured out after the fact that hindsight is a great thing.

This brew poured OJ orange and thick, very hazy. OJ with extra pulp. A bit of head making a brief appearance.  Definitely a citrus aroma but something else in there I couldn’t put a nose on. Almost a sour (God forbid) aroma, sharp. Full fruit flavour, very complex. Is tomato a fruit? They talk about cranberry ( the sour) which seems to be combining with the other flavours for a citrus presentation.  A sharp hoppy finish, strong but not boozy. It does have a kick to it.  I enjoyed this strong IPA,  definitely a warm weather beverage,  and it won’t appeal to everyone, but if you enjoy a traditional strong IPA this variation is worth a try.
