Another brew of the month club selection from Big Rock. They can talk the talk but can they rock the bock? Helles in German means pale, so is this a pale bock. They call it a Bock Lager when in fact aren’t all bocks lagers? They tell us the “the Devil is in the details” and then tell us this brew has an ABV of 6.66%, what the hell is that all about? I don’t want to start trying to explain all these Revelations*, I just want to quaff me a strong lager on a cool summer night.
When I popped this can there was a baptism of beer, a pop and a spray. Was it a sign**? No damage done, towel off and pour. Golden pour, a pale bock, as headless as Winged Victory. A strong boozy aroma. The first taste was strong malt, no bite or hops at all. A faint rye like taste not endearing but not unpleasant. It evolved quickly into a sweet (literally) finish. Strong malt with a slightly sweet finish, no hops or aftertaste. By the time I was done I felt like I had been to a party, and this brew was packing the party punch. It’s a strong brew but left me wanting more. Maybe not the Casbah***, but Big Rock can rock the bock.
