Marketing is so easy. You put up a picture of a pretty girl and you’ve instantly got the attention of a bunch of guys. It isn’t exactly innovative, but it works.

I tried this West Coast Pale Ale from Barley Days and it is really good. I can’t say whether they increased their sales by putting a girl riding a beer bottle on the can, or with their neat play on Burlesque by changing it to Bru-lesque. But I can say that whatever the reason you chose this beer, it likely didn’t disappoint. Slightly darker out of the can than I was expecting, but the pine and citrus tones are at the front and centre of this beer. It is well balanced without being too alcohol heavy the way some strong beers can taste. The finish is smooth and overall a great flavour.

If you were hoping for a pretty girl and Burlesque theater, you might be let down, but if you were hoping for a tasty IPA that is smooth and refreshing, then you came to the right place.

Editor's Comment: "A Night at the Opera" is a movie from none other than the Marx Brothers. It was one of MGM's biggest hits at the 1935 box office, "A Night at the Opera" is also the fourth studio album by the British rock band Queen, released in 1975 It was reportedly the most expensive album ever recorded at the time of its release. It was named after the Marx Brothers' film of the same name, With the title of this review I don't think our reviewer is referring to either the movie or the film.

Final Rating: No tease for this IPA. 15 out of 20
