Flying Monkeys is encouraging us to tune in to this unique IPA. It wasn’t that long ago that I was suspicious and reluctant regarding IPAs, not a fan. But with their Juicy Ass IPA Flying Monkeys tuned me in and turned me on* to the genre. Since that time COMDB have reviewed 139 IPAs to date including doubles, triples, quadruples, hazy, juicy, session, NE (New England and North East), West Coast, Brut, Grapefruit, Dry Hopped, Cold, Black, Red, English, Organic, White, All Day, Dark, and Lil’, to name a few. And now a milkshake IPA, what will they think of next!
With my first look at the can I thought FM were issuing a beer in support of diversity and inclusion with their Live Trans Mission, however it turns out they just ran out of room on the can and the beer name is actually Live Transmission.**
A darkish orange pour with an off white head crackling through the airwaves. A mild hoppy creamsicle aroma, some lactose in there for sure. A crazy hazy pour with a very bubbly personality, it bubbled from start to finish but the majority of the fizz stayed in the glass and didn’t come into the taste.
A juicy IPA flavour with a bit of a sweet fizzy finish. There is a tad of bitter with a touch of sweet in the finish, it is a fruity slightly hoppy IPA, complex, different, juicy, interesting, and balanced.
The lactose (milkshake) makes this about as smooth as an IPA can get, a hop and fruit smoothie. It makes for a very easy drinking IPA, and very tasty.
