The third and final episode of the Mining Now COMDB Unofficial and verbally sanctioned CIM* Convention Wrap and Tap show. But wait. Can it be? Say it isn’t so. Cranky Old Men Drinking Beer replaced by Grand Dames Sipping Suds? Well I’ll be grand damned. The Grand Dame** of the CIM herself, CEO Angela, is in the house with Jerrod the Crownsman and she is keen to quaff a cold one. Our old friend Rory gave up his seat for this show to the CEO.
The CEO requested an IPA, and what the CEO wants, the CEO gets, if you know what’s good for you. And if there is one thing I have learned in my many years, it’s what’s good for me. A Hazy IPA from the hometown hero brewer Brasseur de Montréal met the criteria. They tell us this brew’s haze is a tribute to the emissions of the old chimneys of Rosemont, the twin towers of Laurel Park. Not sure what they were burning but that doesn’t sound too appetizing to me. Let’s hope this brew meets the high standards of the Grand Dames.
A hazy, cloudy, smoky, orangy pour with a thin white head atop the tower. A mild fruit aroma, tropical, not hoppy. A taste of mild fruit, a bit of fizz and a touch of bitter. Not juicy enough to be juicy, not hoppy enough to be hoppy, and unlike the sidelined Rory, it has nothing to be bitter about. Just like some of us, once wild now mild. Tame but not lame. A well-balanced session style hazy IPA. Light, tasty and refreshing. Just what the CEO ordered.
