Exploring? Have You Checked Out….. the World?

Let's Go Exploring!

Eastbound Brewing Co.

6% Alcohol

Let’s go exploring! Where? How about…..the World! With a spaceman on the can I guess they are telling us the world is not enough.* I’ve been around the world once or twice and let me tell you, the novelty has worn off. So these days if someone says “Let’s go exploring” my reply is “let’s not”, unless of course it’s exploring new brews, in which case count me in. I find exploring new brews more interesting, less stressful, and my luggage doesn’t get lost. Let’s face it, the world is not what it used to be. Maybe the world is not enough, but It’s just too much.

Eastbound and down**, they’re loaded up and truckin’, and servin’ up a dry on the double. A world class pour, golden globe golden with a healthy hoppy head above the 49th parallel***. Hop on board? Yes, more than a few, with an aroma of hoppy pine bitters.  The taste is hoppy pine with a nice fruit following, an opposite to usual sequence and a nice surprise that works well. Zing and tropical fruit in that order, tasty and refreshing. A nice full mouthfeel to it. It settles into a nice juicy IPA. This Eastbound got downed.

I think I will stick to exploring the world…of craft beer. And stick a flag in this one, because this double dry hopped IPA has turned out to be a great discovery

*Editor’s Comment: The 1999 movie “The World is Not Enough” is the 19th in the Bond franchise and the third in which Pierce Brosnan plays the iconic British spy. The theme song “The World is Not Enough” is performed by the rock band Garbage. The role of Miss Moneypenny is played by Samantha Bond (no relation).

**Editor’s Comment: “Eastbound and Down” is the 1977 theme song to the movie “Smokey and the Bandit”. Written by Jerry Reed and Denna Kaye Rose and performed by Reed, who also plays a lead role in the movie, the lyrics layout the plot of the movie. The title “and down” is CB radio lingo, meaning "I'm finished transmitting, but still listening to the channel."

***Editor’s Comment: Although often thought of as the border between the US and Canada, 72% of Canadians live below the 49th parallel.

Final Rating: The World May Not Be Enough but 16 out of 20 is Pretty Damn Good
