I’ve been out on the lake many times at last light, line in the water, coaxing those fat-basstards to take hook line and sinker so I can wet the net. No surf boats making waves, no old hounds on dock or shore barking their heads off, no seagulls squawking their screechy squawk. Old Tommy Carlyle said “silence is golden” and he wasn’t lyin’.* Watching the beauty sunset with a smile on my face knowing there is a frosty adult beverage in the fridge with my name on it when I get to shore.
Whitewater have served up a clear golden pour, it’s lighting up the room. A nice light white head. A light lager malt aroma, no surprises yet. First taste of Last Light yields a nice middlin’ malt flavour with a definite sweet to it. Reminiscent of a honey lager. A tasty flavorful sweet treat. Not enough sweet to knock me off my feet, but enough sweet to make me sit up in my seat. Second quaff is a sweet repeat. It is easy and refreshing, sweet replete.
It won’t be my last light or my last Last Light but it was my last Last Light last night. Sweet.
