The good news, there are still two Canadian teams on the trail for the cup. The bad news, they are playing each other. The good news, there will be one Canadian team make it to the third round. The bad news for Oilers fans, it will probably be Vancouver. Which is where I am right now to sample some local brew and watch the playoffs….. on TV. Out here they hate McDavid as much as Leafs fans hate Marchand.
They say that if you visit Vancouver “you simply must do the trails at Stanley Park“. Well, that would be a bit of a hike for me, but I did see a Stanley Park Brewing Trail Hopper on the shelf and thought drinking one would be far better than the trails and tribulations of actually contending with nature. And it was on sale too.
A muted golden hazy pour, with a bright white topper that didn’t have time for a headshot due to a powerful thirst. Great first impression. Juice and hops on the nose in line with its high IBU. A full bodied citrus juicer with hops to spare. A pine bitter bough slap on the backend that made my day. All in fine balance. A classic hoppy IPA.
I am sure Stanley Park is impressive but a lot of Vancouverites are much more focused on the Stanley Cup these days.
