Ritchie Blackmore saw it on the water, the Platters got some in their eyes, Matt Dillon’s was from a gun, and Fonger is glad it’s legal now.* Yep, we’re talkin’ smoke. A smoky campfire pilsner from Muskoka to be exact. Swillin’ and grillin’ Lord willin’. Not that it isn’t smoky enough already from my yearn to burn BBQ techniques. When all is said and done, more is said than done, but when it comes to my BBQ well done is well done. So it’s a friggin’ chicken fricassee of a sacrifice to the gods of the grill this evening.
A pristine pilsner pour with a white cap on my nightcap. An aroma of fresh malt and apple, piquing an already pretty piqued thirst. A great first swig, icy cold and super refreshing malt with a hint of fruit and a dry crisp finish with the slightest wisp of smoke, super subtle smoky. The crisp dry finish of this wobbly pop snaps and crackles. The touch of smoke just adds another dimension to the high and dry finish.
Big swigs beckoned and you wouldn’t be surprised to learn that I answered the call. As it warmed a bit more smokiness emerged. All in all this smoky from Muskoky** is a great pilsner by the BBQ, the campfire, the dock, and all pints*** in between.
