Pontificating once again with those two crazy Crownsmen, Jerrod and Rory, and I wanted to introduce them to an early influence of mine. They say you always remember your first and Juicy Ass was my first. Being an old school lager and pils guy I was somewhat reluctant to venture into the realm of fruit and hops and pine and bitters. I have a Juicy Ass to thank for opening my eyes when it came to IPAs. Flying Monkeys have some crazy brews but I believe this was the one that started it all for them.
As for the Crownsmen show, we tackled some interesting topics such as value add, change management, and what Amazon did that Blackberry didn’t. Then Rory proposed that I picked this beer as a follow-up to our last week’s discussion about Cardi B.* I vehemently denied doing so…. consciously. This prompted Jerrod to interject with another Cardi B quote “I’m an emotional gangster, I cry once every month.” I can relate, I usually shed a tear or two each month when I get the Department of Procurement’s visa bill.

Juicy
The subject of one of the early COMDB reviews, it’s time for a class refresher of this class refresher. This brew has a great light golden hue with a fulsome head, possibly augmented by the juiciness. And a great hoppy juicy aroma, citrus tropical on the nose. It smells very tasty. The taste is not as hoppy as I thought it would be, a great middlin’ fruit combined with mild hoppiness and bitters. That’s one freshly squeezed Juicy Ass, the fruit is light and just right. Not puree over done like some. Jerrod hit the proverbial nail on the thumb when he declared it to be balanced. Good call.
A classic IPA, easy drinking and refreshing. This is what the new craft beer industry did to IPAs and we will be forever grateful.
