The Grist is wondering where to begin. Sinek, in one of the business books featured in our article on Books You Should Read While Doing Your Business, tells us to start with why. Why? I’m not sure but according to Sinek just by asking that question we’re off to a good start. I believe where we end up is far more interesting than where we start. Since all roads lead to Rome* it makes sense that we have ended up with an Italian pilsner.
We have enjoyed family, food and beer at The Grist. Time to see if this armchair trip to Italy ends up in a super suds destination.
And so we begin with a golden pour and a bright white slim head. A classic Italian pils aroma, you can actually smell the crisp. First taste is malt sweet with a very dry to acetic finish. Next swig is malt to super dry with an aspirin chaser. The ascetic esthetic is not a good look, or taste for that matter. I like the dry finish and I’m OK with bitters but the sharp bitter ending I could do without.
They say what begins well ends well. When it comes to craft beers, perhaps a more relevant idiom is “all’s well that ends well.”
