Can you dig it?
I was missing the snow so I thought a visit to the Muskokas would be in order. Out of the big city, up here where the snow drifts are bigger than the egos. Be careful what you wish for they say. After a morning of digging in just to get to the cottage door it was time to go out for a bite and check out what was new at one of our favourites, Sawdust City. After a rough ride on the Red Rocket I thought a loco cocoa smooth as silk stout sounded like some super safe suds.
A Mocha Crunch sounds oh so good, doesn’t it? A chocolate bar stout! I mean, other than dogs, who doesn’t love chocolate? *
The bartender wrestled a glass down then tapped out a perfect pour. Black and tan, easy on the eyes. And on the nose a deep dark easily detectable and quite delectable Cocoa Java aroma.
Taste as advertised, although no crunch was to be found. A cocoa mocha, very tasty with an ever so slight bitter finish. Too flavourful to be big swigged, it’s the flavour you savour. That being said I did try a big swig and quite enjoyed it, but like many very enjoyable things in life I wanted to make it last as long as I could.
Nice full mouthfeel not quite creamy but cocoa dreamy. It tastes like one of the chocolates from the box that the grandkids don’t like. Consistent start to finish and delivering on it’s promises, so no future in politics. Chocolate sweet with a coffee chaser, all well balanced with the mini bitters on the finish.
In a word, delicious. Well done SC.
