The Right Lager?

Right Bauer

Quayle's Brewery

5.5% ABU Alcohol

Skiing in Ontario brings you right to the Barrie area where they had tons of snow this year. While enjoying the winter sports in the area we also managed to get in a visit to Quayle’s Brewery. This place is a little out of the way, * but well worth the effort to visit. Really well designed, it has a laid back atmosphere with plenty of space for a crowd. They grow their own hops which makes for some interesting and unique flavours.

The Right Bauer is a German Pils that is smooth and clear, but the hops jump right out at you and there is an intriguing bitterness at the end that makes you want to take another taste. They don’t publish the bitterness level – but I’m guessing it is way up there. Some pine flavours and possibly lime or citrus, but the bitterness soon dominates your mouth. I’m ok with mouth domination from Quayle. They call it the Right Bauer and I call it well played.**

The web site does mention that this brew is an Ontario medal winner for 2022. I’m sure the home grown hops allow them to get an edge on other craft brewers.

*Editor’s Comment: Quayle’s Big Chute was featured in our COMDB Muskoka Brew Tour.

**Editor’s Comment: Turn down a Bauer, lose for an hour.
