The boys of summer are back, in spring training.* I remember a hockey player after watching his first baseball game saying “They shower after this?” I’m not sure about post game batting clean up, but baseball players make some major coin these days, maybe that’s why they call it an earned run? Regardless of a baseballer’s net worth or their personal hygiene, I thought what better way to celebrate the first day of spring than a baseball brew from our favourite baseball brew brewer, Left Field.
A Frozen Rope right out of Left Field to home. Will it be a good catch or too hot (or cold) to handle? Time to field this frosty craft.
A crazy hazy OJ pour, a bit of froth atop the old tankard. First whiff is juice and sharp hoppiness, time to take a swig, bitter up. It has a tropical citrus juicy body with a healthy heaping of grapefruit bitters mid quaff right through to the bitter end. Juicy bitters. I think the biting bitters were A-OK but the juice was bordering on puree, maybe a touch too. The bitters faded a bit but the hoppiness remained along with the slightly too juicy juice.
A juice induced IPA, a bit over the top but certainly a refreshing reminder that spring is here. I guess this is my spring training for some soon to be summer suds.
