Advice from the Doctor.

Annie and Dave shared some sweet dreams with us. Steven and Joe told us to dream on. Michelle and Mama Cass were way down in California dreamin’ up a storm. But it was Dr. Frank-N-Furter who probably best summed it up when he said, “Don’t dream it, be it.” *

Early in life I learned when a girl said “in your dreams” she wasn’t setting a goal for me. My dreams these days are fairly simple, free beer. That’s right, full disclosure, that’s what this website is all about. A FedEx six pack, a free flight, a tap on the house, an open bar. A more than ample sample. Pils with no bills, ale in the mail. A man can dream, can’t he? **

Ok, maybe a bit shallow of me. Let me update my dreams for you. Good health, world peace, and free beer (not necessarily in that order).

As far as this Dreamy IPA from Willibald goes, I did pay for it, so once again (unfortunately) a totally unsolicited review to go with my unfulfilled dreams. That being said, this is a beauty pour, a creamy thick muted golden orange thing happening, with a head of bright white clouds in the clouds. Aroma of tropical fruits and grapefruit hoppiness. The first taste is a creamy full mouthfeel, juicy and smooth with those grapefruit bitters on the nose now on the finish. Well balanced going in with lots of flavour. It maintains that good balance from the first snap of the cap to the final tap out.   A solid, steady, hazy juicy IPA. Don’t just dream it, drink it.

*Editor’s Comment: Out of all the powerful speeches and quotes about dreams you chose these? Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart (The Eurthymics) had a 1983 hit with Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This). Steven Tyler and Joe Perry (Aerosmith) hit some high notes on their 1973 song Dream On. Mama Cass, Michelle Phillips, John Phillips and Denny Doherty (The Mamas and the Papas) were one of the voices of the 60’s counterculture with their 1965 song California Dreamin’. The score of the play The Rocky Horror Picture Show by Richard O’Brien became the 1975 cult classic movie of the same name with Tim Curry as the good Doctor telling us to give ourselves over to absolute pleasure and “Don’t Dream it, be it”.

** Editor’s Comment: Probably a more fitting quote for this website. “A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams.” John Barrymore
