A warm evening, cloud covered sky, no moon tonight. Well, just one I guess. What could be rarer than a COM Blue Moon sampling? * How about us sampling a Blue Moon Light, ironically on a night with no moon light.
My disdain for Blue Moon is twofold. First, a major like Molson Coors claiming their Belgian wheat is a craft beer, and not just any craft beer but the best selling one in the world. That, and a flame about 3 feet high, really burns my ass. Secondly, I really don’t enjoy it, a poor pour in my books. So why, with all the great craft beers out there, would I subject myself to a Blue Moon Light? The answer can be found in these two simple words, “Free Beer”.
I’m at the beach with the grandkids, and even though they swim like fish you have to keep an eye on them. To be honest, in this day and age I worry about predators of the two-legged variety more than the finned ones. A young man walks up to me with a cooler pack on his back like they have at the ball games. “Would you like a free beer?” he says. “WOULD I!” I say. When it comes to a free beer I don’t have much of a poker face. It turns out they’re handing out free samples Blue Moon Light. The price was right, so I pocketed one.

Michael was here.
A citrus semi-hazy pour with a reality (as opposed to those fluffed up website pics) head. Nice looking pour. Malt light citrus aroma, this Blue Moon already has some fruit in it, so not a fruitless endeavour like their standard fare. They say it has tangerine peel, the first swig tasted like orange to me. Very fizzy, with a mild malt body and a very slight bitter aftertaste. Very light and very fizzy. The initial orange slice faded to a wedge and then a zest. I recognized the taste immediately. Orange Bubly. Yep, the fizz and very mild fruit, just like that carbonated water drink. I was half expecting Michael Bublé to show up and put an accent ague on the word Blué.
The only reason this brew is getting an honourable mention is because I enjoy Bubly.
