Bitburger Please, Hold the Cheese

Bitburger Premium Pils

Bitburger Braugruppe

4.8% Alcohol

After Bavaria left us in a Holland-daze we are back in Europe again for another kick at the beer can. This time in Germany although still not Bavaria. * It’s a Bitburger to go, hold the cheese please,** and no I don’t want the meal deal, just the beer thanks.

And this is not just Bitburger’s regular Premium Pils, no sir. This limited edition can design is nice and bright to commemorate that Bitburger is an official partner of the Summer 2025! The whole summer, wow! I expect that sponsorship would cost a pretty penny with a couple of Euros thrown in there too. ***

Bitte ein Bit”, the Bitburger catch phrase, sounds like a job for the COMDB translation department, who are always game for a bit of bitter repartee.  They tell me it translates to “One Bit, please”, a request I was unable to comply with as I only had one Bit in my beer fridge.

Great looking pour, golden clear with a bright white head. A nice full malt aroma, looking good and smelling good. First taste is a great malt body, slightly sweet lager profile, with a bit of an acerbic grainy dry finish. Some Bit burger bitters on the backend.  I really enjoyed the body, full on lager flavour, the finish alternated between slightly acerbic to dry smooth. Some would say a sharp finish. On a hot night it stayed the course, I warmed a bit to it as it warmed a bit to me.

This traditional European pilsner was an enjoyable return to the old country.

*Editor’s Comment: The city of Bitburg, where the Bitburger brewery is located, is in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Western Germany, a fair distance from the much larger German state of Bavaria. As for Bavaria Beer, it is not Bavarian either. It is actually a Dutch beer, brewed in Lieshout in The Netherlands.

**Editor’s Comment: The only cheese with this Bitburger is your review.

***Editor’s Comment: A cursory review of the fine print would reveal that they are an official partner of L’Estival 2025, an open air concert event which takes place each year on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
