Road Trip to Auckland

Nickel Brook Brewing C0.

5.5% Alcohol

Sal and Dean lived life large on the road. Wyatt and Billy’s cross border chopper hop started and ended on the road, literally. Anthony (Man) and Pedro were rollin’ on down the road, high times on the highway. And Otter and Boon’s response to their frat house demise was two words “Road Trip”. *

Then there was that memorable road trip that we took in the 70’s around this time of year for an Oktoberfest weekend in Kitchener Waterloo. I use the term memorable in the figurative rather than literal sense, as the details of that weekend are somewhat sketchy.

Not to be outdone, Nickel Brook has taken the road trip to the next level with a cross continent 8600 mile jog , down to New Zealand with their Road Trip to Auckland IPA.

A hazy OJ pour, with a full head up top from those down under hops. Tropical citrus and hops, on the nose, kiwis perhaps? The first taste is citrus tropical to hops to bitters in no time. Ok, it did take a bit of time, it’s an expression damn it. This is an easy drinking fresh, and very refreshing, IPA. It is consistent, with an ideal IPA sequence and balance.  It’s a big swig super star too, hit the road thirst. This really tasty IPA is on the road to a super suds score.

*Editor’s Comment: The 1957 Jack Kerouac classic “On the Road”. Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda starred in the 1969 counter-culture hit “Easy Rider” with a young Jack Nicholson. Cheech and Chong were virtually unknown when their 1978 low budget movie “Up in Smoke” became a big hit. John Belushi’s break out role of John “Bluto” Blutarsky was from another 1978 surprise hit movie, “Animal House”.
