Who ever thought that chugging a beer in front of an audience would be a savvy career move. Apparently it was for Ariel Elias, a New York based comedian who was doing a show in New Jersey the other night when she had to deal with a heckler. She handled the heckling quite well and tried to carry on with her show but then the heckling started to get aggressive, next thing you know a can of beer comes sailing up to the stage and hits the wall behind her and explodes. She calmly picked it up and chugged what was left of it, to the cheers of the audience.
The heckler was a woman, and apparently the beer was thrown by the woman’s husband/partner. Must be love. Of course, it’s also a felony and charges have been laid.
The video clip has gone viral, Elias has been applauded by a raft of comedians for how she handled the situation, and now she is being invited on to the Jimmy Kimmel show. “As soon as I picked up the beer and felt liquid still in it,” Elias told a reporter, “I knew to chug it. It felt like the only way to recover. Also suddenly I really needed a drink, so it really worked out.”
