According to the COMDB Guide to Beer Tasting Rule #7, if you find a beer you like write the name down, because with all those crazy beer names out there, I’ll be damned if I can remember them all. Good advice not taken usually becomes expensive education. Out to dinner the other night in Arizona, having a grand time, no canyon required. Good food, good company, good beer, bad memory. Sure enough, I didn’t jot down the name of the brew I had, and I’ll be damned if I can remember it. Note to self: ignore the COMDB Guide to Beer Tasting guidelines at your own peril. An IPA on draft from a brewery in Flagstaff, that’s all I got. Turns out there’s 8 breweries in Flagstaff. A nice golden citrus pour with a bright white head where it’s name used to be. A tropical aroma, some mango maybe, and hops to boot. And if this brew wasn’t so tasty I wouldn’t have been concerned about a little brew review amnesia. But tasty it was and is. A great juicy treat with mild hops and no bitters, easy drinking. Delicious. A great appetizer and a far better dinner companion than a glass of fermented grape juice. Lets face the facts, anything you’re supposed to spit out after tasting can’t be all that good, now can it. This incognito craft draft is a mystery worth solving, I certainly enjoyed getting to the bottom of it. Let’s hope our Editor can crack the case.
