I’m a big Stockyards fan. Their Festbier was the best beer. Their Missed Calls is not to be missed. And their Iron Horse IPA kept rollin’ all night long. All super suds status. So when I saw a new brew of theirs on the shelf, I packed that puppy into my 8 pack and headed for the checkout for a craft pint purchase. Looks like a Citra Dry Hopped IPA of some type I thought to myself.
Back at home base doing a beer fridge restock with my new Stockyards I couldn’t help but notice the word SOUR on the can! A Citra Dry Hopped Sour. This is when the Editor reminds me about my inability to read the fine print.* I was looking forward to another Stockyards super suds, but super suds sours are not the rule of the day around here.** But being the consuming, as opposed to consummate, professional I popped, poured and processed this Citra sour.
A very bubbly pour settles into a clear shade of peach. A bubbly foam head liner. Peachy on the nose, a stone fruit sober sniff, which is about to change. A taste of fizzy and peachy, some lemon in the background and a very mild tang. Just like my recent Arizona peachy pint. A watery mouthfeel, a very mild and, dare I say, crushable sour. Light refreshing and tasty, close to a session IPA in my books, in my opinion and in my glass.
This is definitely a summertime poolside possibility.
