Out for a big night in the little apple. At the Walrus and time to wet the ol’ whiskers (mine not the Walrus’s). It’s draft day but we aren’t interested in a rookie. Calling in a good old Guinness on tap. Hard to go wrong with the classic.
A pro pour, wish I could pour like that. Beauty. Very mild roast malt aroma, almost smells creamy if such a thing is possible. And the taste is no surprise but great to get acquainted with once again. Smooth creamy with some bitters very nice. Going down fast, I’m drinking this one like I stole it! As the bitters abate the smooth creamy malt remains, temporarily, until I finish that is.
I don’t think Guiness is an acquired taste, you either love it or you don’t. Guess what side of the fence I am firmly on. Perhaps the Beatles were referring to Guiness when they sang “All You Need is Love”.* That’s a segue into some COM substitute lyrics.
“There’s nothing you can pour that can’t be poured,
There’s nothing you can drink that can’t be drunk,
There’s nothing you can do except to quaff a brew or two,
It’s easy,
All you need is Guinness.”
