Angelic** is an apt name for this beer. There is a picture of one on the can and there is more inside the can. There is a surprising hoppiness in the initial sip and it is followed by a great citrus flavour. A smooth finish completes the quaff. This is a great beer with all the elements and nothing extreme.
Archibald Brewing is a Microbrewery based in Lac-Beauport Quebec. The organization is tied to six restaurants there as well. Some Cranky Old Men who will say that if there is a group of restaurants, then this is pushing the boundaries of craft beer. But there is only a single brewery and it is only available locally, so I think this is totally legit. There is a consistency to the beer lineup right down to the labelling and packaging that I haven’t seen before. They haven’t gone crazy with wild ingredients or new styles of beer – they are sticking to fine tasting recipes with enough variation to keep things interesting. Check out their beer lineup that includes IPA, session IPA, IPA lager, West Coast IPA, IPA Blanche, … you get the idea. The labels have the same style with a different pretty girl on each. Oh, and they have two “American” style beers – they each have a picture of a guy. That is a statement of some sort.
I really like this beer, but will have to wait until I can get to Quebec to try out the rest of the lineup. In the meantime, if you get a chance to try an Archibald brew, I say take it.
