A peaceful pilsner on the patio.

At the Burrard Street Ballyhoo for a brew or two, and some dinner too. When in Rome, visit the coliseum, when in Vancouver, carry an umbrella and drink local. Time for a Phillips and we’re not talking milk of magnesia, but an Implosion of the Pilsner ilk. Some inspiration through fermentation as as they like to say.

Parked on the patio with a Pils. Watching the world walk by while sipping suds, living the life of Riley.* So many people in a big hurry to get somewhere, do something, see someone, be someone. I’m not judging. I’ve been there and done that, but my 007 days are done, all I have left is a license to chill. So I’m chillin’ like a villain, guilty as charged.

This draft craft has a bright light pan pacific pour, with a slim white froth on the quaff. A fresh malt light aroma. The taste is lager like malt and sweet with a very light crisp finish. Not the crunchy crisp you sometimes get with a pils and no nasty acidic ascetic either. It is refreshingly light, bright and just right for an unwind after whatever winds you up, which at times is just life in general.

Kudos to the Ballyhoo for great service, great beer and a nice relaxing evening on the patio.

*Editor’s Comment: The “life of Riley” is an idiom which means an easy going and carefree existence. Its origins seem to stem from an 1880 song “Is That Mr. Reilly?”
