I saw Grace Potter and the Nocturnals in concert in Orlando many years ago. It was in a small venue where you bought a beer and stood in the pit. It held maybe 400 people tops. Great band, high energy, and Potter has the “Voice”. Why am I rambling on about Grace Potter? Well, she just happens to be a Vermont blond who rocks.* Unfortunately (spoiler alert) the Vermont Blond in my glass doesn’t.
As an aside, the beer on the brewer’s website looks nothing like the beer in my glass. What’s that all about? Looks like those mind manipulating marketing mavens are after my hard-earned cash again. They’ll have to get in line behind the government.
Burdock’s blond pours straw lemon wheat light with more bubbles than any beer I have seen, and believe me, I’ve seen a few. It’s busy with the fizzy. A lemon light pale ale malt hops mix on the nose. First taste the carbonation rules the roost. It sure is fizzy, the fizz is giving me the bizz. The taste is lemony lite with a bit of funky malt, not hoppy. The fruit eventually leads to some bitters. The mild citrus lemony mild malt and some bitters all together are balanced, but I don’t find the combo all that appealing.
