I have deemed this St. Patrick’s Week for the simple reason that there are too many great Irish beers to sample in just one day if you aren’t Irish.
So on St. Patrick’s Day Eve I decided to sample a Strong Patrick, a special edition of Irish style red ale by Beau’s. A faux internationale brew for sure but no matter, I am usually impressed by what the tractor team brews up. In Ontario if your alcohol percentage is 5.6% to 6.5% you have to designated it as strong beer. Fair enough.
So on the can is a picture of Lucha libre wrestling mask, green with a shamrock. I always thought that Lucha libre was a Mexican tradition, having been educated on the topic by seeing Jack Black in his mask and stretchy pants in the movie Nacho Libre. An Irish wrestling mask? Eye catching anyway even if I couldn’t figure out the relevance.
Good beer, not too red, not too strong but enough flavor to be called bold. Not overpowering. I am not a red lover usually but I enjoyed it. Just another darn good beer from the Beau’s tractor team.
