Art appreciation time at COMDB. No, I’m not going to treat you to another one of my Hallmark worthy rhymes.* Instead, how about something much more tasteful, a Collective Arts sampling, their Guava Gose no less! I seem to remember a past guava brewski that I thought would be a perfect poolside pint. A warm night and lake breeze was the opportunity to put my theory to the test with a Guava Gose on hand, then in hand, and going down.
That pop you just heard was your mind being blown!

The Gose genre is basically a wheat sour with salt.** Guava juice is not my go to morning breakfast beverage either. Although this combination may cause concern and consternation both Gose and guava in the past have received the COMDB seal of approval, that being super suds status. CA tell us that they dosed this brew “with the largest batch of guava we could get away with”. Time to see if the juice is worth the squeeze.
A hazy orange lounging by the pool pour, with a slim trim bubbly foam float. Yep guava on the nose, it has a tart citrus aroma. The taste is a nice guava fruit juicer with a tart sour finish. On a warm night it’s alright. A not over the top sour tart, not a salt assault. It’s a nice tart refresher, the guava smooths and the sour gives it a tart citrus finish. Not bitter or dank, or salty, just juicy tart. Was that a touch of salt I detected in the dregs? Perhaps.
The guava is the dominant player in this unbalanced sour. Usually I look for balance but in this case the extra guava, the tart finish and the hint of salt is the just right Collective combo. As far as a Gose goes, this one was going, going, gone and doing some tasty refreshing along the way. I am showing my appreciation of this art of the Gose through a super suds rating.
