Time to put some Crank in the tank. Crank seems like a pretty versatile word. As a noun it could be the crank shaft in your car, an annoying eccentric person, a bad-tempered grouch, or an impure form of crystal meth! As a verb you can crank a crank and you can crank things up. The adjective can refer to a crank letter or a crank call, or a cranky beer reviewer for that matter. Now the cranksters at Crank * have made up a new word to add to the list. They say the word “crankability” is to be used “to explain how smooth and easy drinking our lite lager is.” Good to know. It won’t help me in Scrabble but perhaps I’ll be able to use this new word in this review. Perhaps.
A bright golden slightly hazy pour with a fulsome swath of froth. A heady experience for sure. A fresh malt aroma. As one would expect a light malt flavour but as one would not expect fizzier than Perrier and fuzzier than fuzzy wuzzy.** No sweet, no bitter, mild malt with just a touch of a crisp finish. Unfortunately the “crankability” of this brew is hampered by its very high carbonation level. High fizzability leads to a lack of crankability, hampering it’s refreshability. It’s easy to make up new words, but this brew is not as easy drinking as one would expect from a lite. Ok flavour but too much fizz in the bizz.
