The warm weather is back with a vengeance and that means crushing some picnic table pints, that’s right, it’s outdoor drinking season. I saw this new offering from Beau’s Brewing and the Hazy IPA tag caught my eye. New England style IPAs are almost always delicious and here was a new one from one of our favourite brewers, so it was a must buy and try. Heading to the dock, rough and ready in my Yeti so no pour report. The only pouring I was doing was down my throat. I can’t say how hazy it was, and won’t say how hazy I was after.

The aroma was fruity with notes of pineapple, and citrus, which seamlessly carried through to the taste. What struck me most was the beer’s smooth mouthfeel and low bitterness, making it incredibly drinkable. Each sip had hoppiness, but it’s nicely balanced with a malty sweetness. This one is a winner in my books, a crushing success.

Beau’s has been in business for almost 20 years* and back in the day they were a one or two and done brewer, but that hasn’t stopped them from keeping up with the current trends and style’s. Case in point, some of their new offerings like Juiced AF or their Refresher. This is a great NEIPA without the high alcohol level you can often get with this style. That’s why they tagged it as crushable, and they tagged it well.

*Editor’s Comment: Beau’s was started in 2006 by the father and son team of Tim and Steve Beauchesne in Vankleek Hills about 1 hour East of Ottawa Ontario. In March 2022 the company merged with Steam Whistle Brewing.
