Honey Brown Lager

Sleeman Brewing and Malting Co.

5.2% Alcohol

This honey lager looks great in the glass, but these little cans at 355ml are more like a dose than a quaff. They look pretty small next to a 500ml Sapporo, which segues into my rant about the major Canadian brewers. Sapporo bought Sleeman in 2013, joining the likes of Molson and Labatt as another foreign owned “Canadian” brewer. Leaving Moosehead and a raft of craft brewers to wave the red and white flag, being the Canadian brewing stalwarts. Of course that doesn’t impact the taste at all. Just demonstrating a bit of patriotism, Canadian style. We don’t burn the flag or vandalize the parliament buildings, we just bitch a bit about beer or hockey.

Smooth, good flavour, nice lager.  You can taste the honey if you are looking for it, which of course you are because it’s name is honey brown lager. You don’t need a degree in psychology to figure out that less than subliminal suggestion. I enjoyed it and will have another,  The honey smooths it out and adds to the  taste as well.
