Father’s day is a day to appreciate your father and all the life lessons he taught you. In that spirit I have been inspired by mine to take my beer drinking more seriously and share my opinion on the internet. As a COMDB in training I hope that I can continue to get crankier and drink more beers with each year that passes*, like my dear ol dad. So here’s my first stab at a guest review.
Having recently been in Dallas TX, I felt it necessary to try some local brews (a habit I picked up from my dad). While they say everything is bigger in Texas I was starting to think they maybe didn’t mean flavour after trying one or two of the local beers. Thankfully I stumbled on to Blood & Honey by Revolver Brewing. According to the can it’s a Texas Ale, although many other review sites range if from a Wheat beer to a Pale Ale and everything in between. To me it ended up being a pleasant mix of both.
Perhaps it was the 39 degree heat but this was a refreshing beer that is definitely served best as cold as possible. The blood orange and honey flavour gave it a nice fruity taste but there was enough bitterness to not make you question whether this is really beer. 7% ABV doesn’t hurt either!
Overall it’s a good beer that stood out to me among the other Texas locals. If you’re ever on the verge of heat stroke down in Dallas I recommend finding your closest saloon and asking for a cold Blood & Honey.
