Get It In Y'a V2.0 Ohh Yeahh

Sawdust City Brewing

Get It In Y’a Ohh Yeahh! The rallying cry of colonoscopy techs everywhere. If you are an old man better heed the words of Larry the Cable Guy and just git er done. During my last procedure, the young tech said he decided to have the procedure done himself just to see what his patients were experiencing and he quite enjoyed it. I will be looking for a different clinic for my next visit. Enough of the COMDB health advisory.

Oktoberfesting so I haven’t had an IPA in a while. I thought I would play catch up with a super strong Sawdust City double “Aussie hopped banger”.  A partnership with the beer podcast BAOS, and Version 2 of their 2018 original, and a BAOS Episode #145 feature. *

This V 2.0 pours grapefruit juice yellow orange, extra pulp with a surprising thick stout like pour for an IPA, must be the oats, wonder if they are steel cut? Certainly bright.  A super citrus juicy aroma. With so many super superlatives so far the remaining question is whether it will achieve super suds status. Time to throw caution to the wind and get some in me.

Glad I had a V2.0 instead.

A strong boozy first sip, certainly juicy, and a smooth oat driven mouthfeel, but a boozy bite to it which overshadows the grapefruit bitter backend a bit.  Which will mellow first, me or the beer? With this strong brew it might be a tie, as in tie on one. Maybe this is a 2 and ½ ? Settling into this brew now but thank God it’s not a daily double. As we both mellow it is a juicy hazy tasty double with a bit of bitters in that now subdued boozy bite. All good.

I had a mental image of me drinking a V-8 and slapping my forehead and exclaiming “I could have had a V 2.0”. ** But I did have a V2.0 and I’m glad I did. Good beer.

*Editor’s Comment: BAOS is a beer podcast and website that shares stories about craft beer and the people behind it.

**Editor’s Comment: V8 Vegetable Juice, usually simply referred to as V8 is a Campbells vegetable drink which is, you guessed it, comprised of 8 garden vegetables. Tomatoes, carrots, celery, beets, parsley, lettuce, watercress and spinach. The 1970’s commercial with a forehead bonk while saying “I could have had a V-8” became a very popular catch phrase back in the day.
