Downtown Montréal, time for a backstreet brasserie bière and repas report. C’est la vie. At 3 Brasseurs to partake in a belle province patio pint. Very quick service, I think it’s the first time I had dinner served before my drink. Much later an IPA comes. That wasn’t what I ordered! I said “Haven’t you heard? I love me an amber” and she said “Are you that guy from cranky old men drinking beer”.  I said “that’s me”, thinking to myself that with all this interprovincial fame maybe a free quaffing was in the offing.  But no, I was charged full price and I think there was a tourist’s surcharge added.  And as quick as my food was, my bill was that slow and slower. Put it this way, by the time I got the bill I was sober.

An amorous amber ale with an off white, off the grid lid. An effervescent sprite like personality, a bubbly brewski for sure. A creamy very full malt flavour, caramel amber, with bitters to spare. Lots of flavour morphs into substantial and sustained bitters. Not sure if I would call it easy drinking, no that’s not true. I am sure I wouldn’t. But I would call it an all or nothing full flavoured amber with rough hang tough on a roll bitters.  Balanced in that everything plays for keeps in equal measure.

I finished the meal and started to blend into my surroundings, it happens every now and zen. It could have been the beer or it could have been the ambiance. Or maybe it was the amberiance? C’est la vie, c’est l’amberée, say it slow, and say it’s so.
