This Witbier from Napanee Beer Company features a woman flying a fighter plane on the can. Well, I guess she isn’t actually flying as the cockpit cover is open, her helmet strap is undone, her goggles are not on and she is waving and winking like she just arrived at the company picnic. But timed with the new release of Top Gun it definitely fits the theme for May.
This beer has a clean, fresh flavour that is appealing without any noticeable hop tang. I found a slightly sour aftertaste which I didn’t like. This could well be a beautifully authentic Witbier, but it isn’t one I’ll be reaching for again anytime soon. The golden colour looks great and it is smooth with a bit of spice flavour. I may not be a fan of this beer style as the aftertaste is driving down my rating on this beer like a Spitfire that lost a dogfight.*
