Chips and dips and hockey night in Canada takes me back to grade schooldays, but instead of a cola I have in hand an adult beverage of my choice. Tonight, it happens to be a crisp pil to go with my crisp chips. If you have the means I would strongly suggest acquiring your own personal jar of dip so you can double dip with a clear conscience.
The Leafs are on a heater (Marner is on fire) and the Flames are flickering and eventually go out in OT. Some armchair coaching for Calgary, keep your stick on the ice and you won’t get those high sticking penalties. Hockey night in Canada still has the best sports play by play on TV that’s for sure, but that intermission is a real snooze fest. If I didn’t have a brew on the go I would probably be taking a nap. News flash, Ron Maclean* is not funny. I do miss Coach’s Corner.
My lot in life tonight is a Lot 9*. This Creemore pil pours a light golden, clear and bubbly, bubbles galore. A slim trim head being fed by a perpetual bubble machine***. But the bubbles don’t show up in the taste, it’s not a fizzy fresca. A light malt with just a touch of fruit on the finish, but not citrus or tropical. Did they grow apples on Lot 9? No surprise that it does have a crisp finish. It all comes together as a nice consistent and well balanced Czech style pilsner. A Pilsner isn’t my go to but this one hit the spot. As my Leafs were chalking up an OT win, Lot 9 was delivering a winning finish as well.
