The name of this brew reminded me of Teddy Roosevelt’s famous foreign policy quote “Walk softly and carry a big stick”.* Of course, “tread lightly” seems to be the not only phrase of the times, but a legal and moral obligation. Heaven forbid if you upset someone, anyone, with a misspoken phrase or an off colour joke, or making light of a serious matter. I’ll tell you, being cranky is no easy row to hoe these days.** We are still in Dutch with the wine drinkers and rowing clubs from some past comments.***
Muskoka is making light of lager with this brew, and is offering to take us “to a place where light beer makes no sacrifices.” I am always game for a little armchair travelling myself, so here we go. Sounds like our brewer is making light of a serious situation.
This brew pours light golden. clear as clear, invisible clear, as in Windex clear no bubbles, haze or streaks. Bright white foam, a pour well worthy of Poppy’s stein. Light malt with a touch of fruit on the nose, classic lager. It has a nice middlin’ malt lager flavour not as light as some lights. A slight crisp finish, rather than sweet, makes for a nicely flavoured and well balanced light beer. A refreshing brew on a warm summer’s eve.
