These days that old 5 o’clock shadow is indeed pale, a little salt and pepper.*
This beer name reminded me of my old buddy and fellow reviewer RA who can often be heard to say “It’s 4 o’clock somewhere.”
Although this beer claims to be a pale ale it reminded me more of a lager. A medium golden pour, not dark but not all that pale either. A bit of a whitecap rolling on this lake. The first taste surprised me a bit, I guess I was expecting some type of pale ale hop fest. Instead it was a full flavour malt and a bit complex. I couldn’t discern or separate the different elements of the flavour. Some citrus perhaps, not very hoppy but a few of them in there, all of these in the back seat while the malt drove the bus. A unique and very good taste. Even though it is only a 4.5 percenter I wouldn’t call it easy drinking, but only because of the unique flavour. Refreshing yes, and enjoyable.
