Chilling in Vancouver, and after a relaxing patio pint at the Ballyhoo, the wise and wonderful waitress says to me “Would you like to try something interesting”. I must admit my imagination ran wild for a second until I remembered I was old enough to be her father.* Reality bites. Lo and behold a free sampler graced my table. “On the house.” she said. “What is it” I asked, in an appreciative tone, me not being one to look a gift beer in the glass. “A Moody sour. It tastes like the love child of a Pina Colada and a beer” she replied. That certainly sounded interesting, the “on the house” part especially. I’m usually a one and done kind of guy but I am prepared to make an exception when it comes to FREE BEER!
A pineapple yellow pour with a creamsicle creamy head. Dessert is served. Definitely a coconut nose to it, with tropical fruit undertones. A creamy coconut mouthfeel with a tropical fruit flat finish. Not really sour at all but definitely coconut and pineapple. All well balanced and just right light. This is a sunny scorcher by the beach light and tasty brewski if I ever I tasted one, and I have tasted a few but never one like this one. A unique taste treat. Did I mention it was on the house?
