Alexander Keith' Red Amber Ale

Keith's Brewery

5% Alcohol

Keith’s claims to be the pride of Nova Scotia. I would say they are not alone and may have to line up behind the Bluenose, those big old lobsters, Sidney Crosby, Anne Murray, Sarah MacLachlan, and Alistair MacLeod.* Even Sir Alexander Graham Bell was a part time Nova Scotian.

So Keith’s has an amber ale, or a red amber to be more precise. Looked amber to me but what do I know. I enjoy a good amber during the game, or any time for that matter. The can says they use their finest hops and barley in this ale. I guess that means their less fine (crappy?) hops and barley go into their other beers? No matter, the beer in my hand is the one with the finest in it. Nice colour, good flavour, not as full bodied as some ambers but still enough flavour. I think the less full bodied approach makes it an easier drinking amber for sure. More full bodied than most major producing breweries anyway. No problem to quaff a couple of these during the game although I only had one at hand.  Nice looking ale, nice tasting ale, easy drinking amber. I am not sure about it being the pride of the province but it tasted pretty good in my glass last night.

*Editor's Comment: “No Great Mischief” is quite the read if anyone reads books these days.
