Quaffable Wheat

Dry Hopped Wheat

Muskoka Brewery

Endless summer,  Brian Wilson * wouldn’t even have got out of bed for it but I’m all in, as in soaking in the great Muskoka outdoors and soaking up some Muskoka summer suds. I usually prefer wheat in my cereal, and only dabble in the straw once in a Blue Moon, but this bright orange can of dry hopped wheat was beer fridge front and center just daring me to pop and pour it. I’m nothing if not open minded** (when it comes beer) so I’ll tackle the October heat with some summer wheat.

A bright orange pour, devoid of any heady encumbrances. Orange Fanta on the nose, fruit and fizz. An orange fizzy first quaff, with a wild wheat mildly bitter finish and aftertaste.  A pinch of peach pit in this pour perhaps? Perhaps.  The fruit has become more subtle as this pint turns the corner and the finish morphs into dry and crisp. What started out as questionable has turned into quaffable.

This is pretty good for a wheat.  If I was a wheat guy this might rate higher,  so if you like your wheat and citrus then this wheat will be a treat.

*Editor’s Comment: Endless Summer was the Beach Boys best of compilation album. Brian Wilson, the creative force that was the Beach Boys, struggled with mental health issues which were exaberated by heavy drug use and stayed home in bed for a number of years in the70's.

**Editor’s Comment: As open minded as a hanging judge. Your double negative statement would imply you are nothing and that's quite something.
