Regina is not normally high on most folks lists of places to visit. I guess that’s why the city came up with their surprising tourism campaign with the tag line “Show us your Regina.” * You don’t need a Cranky Old Man around to read the double meaning on that one.

My Saskatchewan relatives should be running the tourism campaign as they arranged a trip to the local brewery – Rebellion. The beer line up at Rebellion provides the kind of sight seeing that I can totally get behind – or in front of for that matter. An excellent selection of brews you can enjoy on a great patio that can be combined with some really good, authentic Tacos. I’m not sure how much the city paid for their botched advertising campaign, but really, they just had to point folks to this delicious spot and it would be mission accomplished.

I had the Sasquatch Pale Ale along with a couple of other offerings, (because hey, you never know when you are going to get another chance to sample at this brewery when you are traveling).

This beer has a great amber colour and a nice balance of hops. The hops quickly give way to a smooth malt taste. There’s a hint of orange at the end – just enough to make it refreshing and a bit surprising at the same time. A delicious brew and the combination of sunshine on the outdoor patio, great food and company along with a fine tasting brew has given me a better memory of Regina than I would have guessed from the mucked up advertising campaign.

If you happen to be camping in Saskatchewan, Rebellion also has a line of beer specifically for you …

*Editor's Comments: I guess "My Regina is for Lovers" (Virginia) or "Your Regina is on my Mind" (Georgia) or "What Happens in My Regina stays in My Regina" (Vegas) were all taken.

Final Rating: A (doesn't rhyme with Regina) 15.
