Nice dark pour, thin white head. Nice and cold. All set for a great tasting. This amber comes on strong, kickin’ ass and taking names. More flavour than I would expect from a 5 per center.
Unlike my Maple Leafs who are no longer in the playfoffs despite a banner season and a strong playoff start, the strength of this amber stayed until the end. I sound more bitter than my beer! Which is a good segue into the fact that this beer is not bitter, just very flavourful, The malted barley and malted hops come through as strong malt/toffee/caramel but not as bitter.
It is a good beer, not as smooth as some ambers but it’s not trying to be. I think this amber is focused on maximum flavour and it certainly delivers in that department. It is really best for an autumn or winter’s night by the fire rather than a hot day on the deck or dock. An amber lovers amber for sure but not for everyone.
