Saturday Night. To Lynyrd Skynyrd it was special, to Elton John those were fighting words. For Cat Stevens it was just another one, Chicago were in the park and the Bee Gees were coming down with a fever.* But probably the most iconic Saturday night song for Canadians is the one that our friends ,Stack Brewing from Sudbury, are probably referring to, A Sudbury Saturday Night by none other than Stompin’ Tom Connors. “Da girls are out to Bingo and the boys are gettin’ stinko”. Talk about great rap lyrics, Eminem, eat your heart out.
After all that, I am drinking this one on a Friday night, I just couldn’t wait. These days a big night out for me and the missus is dinner or a movie, but I remember a few Sudbury Saturday nights back in the day.
So what about the brew? Well, nice bright golden pour, thin white head. Nice fresh aroma. Fresh and refreshing, not hoppy, not bitter, just a touch of hops to let you know it’s an ale not a lager. A very easy drinking ale. Smooth and refreshing. Well done team Stack, a fine tribute to both Sudbury and Stompin’ Tom.
